I make cool stuff from salvaged wood!
Here are my creations on display at an event on Long Beach Island.
I’m building off of the large sign I carved for reclaimed by carving several small “re” signs. They’ll all feature the “re” from my logo and will also reflect the mission of my business: to reduce our impact on Earth by producing quality products made from reclaimed materials. I’m also installing some vinyl decals on […]
I’m busy working on some new pieces this week before my second event this upcoming weekend on Long Beach Island. I’m really excited about this event. It’s my first on LBI. It’s at the St. Francis Center and I’ve heard that tons of people attend this “Christmas Craft Show.” it’ll be great exposure for reclaimed. […]
A couple months ago I managed to grab a couple of these old game bird crates from a dumpster where my office is, inside Tuckahoe WMA. A whole bunch of these were being fixed up by a coworker of mine. The one’s that weren’t fixable were being chucked. I grabbed these old crates and some […]
I’m making some more driftwood trees to sell at my next event on 11/19-20 on LBI.
I had a great time at my first event this past Wednesday. Got some great compliments on my salvaged wood display, which was good to hear. I ended up selling all but one driftwood tree. They’re a hit! Yesterday, today and tomorrow I’m on a mission to collect as much driftwood as possible for my […]
I’ve got my first event this Wednesday. Here is where you can find out more about this event, which is in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. I’ve been very busy finishing up last minute pieces and building a large display to show my work for sale. I took advantage of the daylight savings by working until 11:30pm […]
Got some good press in the past week. A week ago my Etsy username (reclaimednj) was featured as an author for a blog post on Etsy’s “How-Tuesday” blog. It was all about bats and building a maternity bat house. While I was a part of the project (particularly building the bat house), I didn’t write […]
Over the next 6 weeks I plan on working on several new projects for reclaimed. The first is going to be the remodeling (paint and making furniture) our home office. I’m turning it into my new framing studio! It will still house our desktop computer and some storage, like books and other art materials. The […]
another custom framing job completed! the details: Custom mounted and framed print (supplied by client). Print was mounted on mat board and inset in two mats (tan on bright white). The 16 x 20″ frame (inside dimension) is hand made out of salvaged cedar. Corner joints are fastened using a joiner, biscuits, and wood glue. Wood […]
Worked on this last night. It’s a medium cork board framed in salvaged cedar. The cedar was an old fence slat. Wood was sanded and left natural. Over time it will get a natural patina. Corks are recycled and gathered by friends, family, and acquaintances. I’m working on an agreement and partnership with the Cork Forest […]
I shot this series of photos (for an HDR) after a mountain bike ride in Bass River State Forest in September 2010. The forest pictured is a white pine plantation, planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps. CCC began in the early 1930s and lasted for over 10 years. CCC employed over three million unemployed young […]
