Salvaged door desks
I was commissioned to make two deals from old wood doors. I picked up the doors from an antique shop in Hammonton. I cleaned them using a power washer to take off any loose paint or dirt. There were several options for legs and the cheapest was a simple black steel pipe (which I’ve used before for another desk), so I went with that. I got the pipe cut to length at my local hardware store and attached flanges to the bottom of the doors. I then threaded on the pipe and put on some end caps and stood it up. After that I lightly sanded all the surfaces and then cleaned them one last time.
The last thing they need is a glass top and they’ll be suitable for use as a desk in an office. I plan on making a couple more of these to offer for sale at local events.
