Diversity
Most new items I create are custom orders, like this 21×10″ frame to display three 5×7″ photos. For the most part I don’t have much time to mess around with making random pieces. Between working full time and caring for my two kids I only have a limited amount of time to work on new creations. This is a frame I made for a former classmate in college. I really dig how it came out and plan to make more frames in this size to add to my “pre-made frames‘” selection in my Etsy shop.
Wood used to make this frame was salvaged post-Sandy from a home in North Beach Haven that was flooded during Sandy in late October 2012. The wood used to be cabinets in the home that was gutted after the storm. A much more fitting use for the wood then for it to sit and rot away in a landfill or be incinerated!
- Reclaimed pine triple mat window frame.
- Frame was made from reclaimed knotty white pine, which was debris from a home in N. Beach Haven that got flooded from Sandy.
- Old hardware imprints are a nice touch that I dig!
- Corner joints are fastened using a jointer, biscuits, and wood glue.
- 100% acid free environment!
- Hardware imprints show the past use of this wood as kitchen cabinets.
- “Sandy debris”
It’s great to see that even something as destructive as Sandy can have a beautiful “silver lining”! Great work, Ben 🙂
