This business is about reducing our impacts on our environment. I hope that by reusing wood that would’ve otherwise been dumped into the landfill I’m helping to reduce our impacts on Earth. If the wood would have entered the waste stream who knows how long it would take to degrade, not as long as synthetic materials but it still would have taken up resources and space. When landfills are created wildlife habitat is destroyed. Less habitat for wildlife means less chance at surviving. I’m passionate about wildlife since I work to protect rare species in New Jersey with Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey.
To me collecting the salvaged wood is the best part. Each piece has it’s own story or wear to indicate it’s past use. When I travel around I am always glancing at roadsides, dumpsters, etc.. to look for wood that could be re-purposed or upcycled.
got wood?
If you’re doing renovation or construction on your property or home and would like keep wood from the landfill contact me about having it collected for recycling and reuse opportunities.
I also collect wine & champagne corks. If you drink wine then don’t toss the cork! You can drop them off at house in New Gretna or find me at a local event.

Cool stuff man. Do you know if there are any lumber yards in south jersey that carry salvaged wood? I’m familiar with a yard in Philly (in Manayunk), but nothing on this side of the Delaware river.
Thanks! I have a bunch of salvaged that I don’t normally sell but could if there’s something you’re looking for. Otherwise I only know of one other salvage yard that sells wood, Recycling the Past in Barnegat: http://www.recyclingthepast.com
Hello, my name is Carol Heymann and I am looking for an old piece of board that is very old and quite possibly came out of the Delaware River. You see my father’s parents had a cabin on the Delaware River that got washed away by the flood of 1955. I found an old picture of the cabin and under a microscope I saw there was a sign on the front of the cabin on like a 2×6 or 2×8 painted white with the name of the cabin. It began with FLO. and ended with DEL I’m sure the sign is forever gone but I would love to re-create it with an old salvaged board from the Delaware. If u have one, please let me know. I am in Florida but will find a way to ship it. Please help me locate a board if you can or point me in the right direction. Thank u do much. Carol Heymann. 904 415-0925.
Hey Carol, very cool! I don’t have any wood from the D. River but if I am ever in the area I’ll be sure to look for one that you could use to re-create the old sign. I’ll also have to think of anyone else who might be able to help you out and if I find anyone then I’ll be in touch.
thank you so much. I would say the sign was a 2×8 now after really looking at it. i cant tell the width so a 1 in width would be fine. I also think it is approx. 2-3ft long. I really appreciate your help with this. if you know of any salvage companies that fish stuff out of the river please let me know. thank u so much!!! Carol
