Into the Blue

Last Saturday my friend Greg and I ventured out to Seaside Heights to take advantage of great night shooting conditions: clear skies. I’ve had dreams about shooting this after seeing some work by photographer Jack Fusco of the same subject: the Jet Star Roller Coaster from Casino Pier. I just had to get some shots before it is removed, which is happening any day now.

I am also planning on selling this piece that is framed in reclaimed wood caused by Superstorm Sandy. I’ve given the wood the term “Sandy debris” and write it in paint on any and all of my pieces made from such. This particular photo I’m framing for the Open House of the NJ Environmental Federation. Their main office in Belmar was destroyed by Sandy and their new office is in Long Branch. The Open House is on May 31 and will feature environmentally friendly artwork.

The New Jersey Environmental Federation (NJEF or Federation) is a non-profit organization fighting to protect natural resources and clean up pollution in New Jersey. NJEF is the New Jersey chapter of Clean Water Action, a 30 year old national organization based in Washington, DC, and dedicated to organizing citizen efforts to protect the environment.

The iconic Jet Star roller coaster awaits removal from the Atlantic Ocean.
